The word pranayama means to expand the dimension of prana. As practitioners, we use breath as a tool to influence the flow of energy through the channels (nadis) of our energy body (pranayama kosha).
Students will gain a basic understanding of what pranayama is, how it works within our bodies, techniques to use for certain occasions and everyday practices to maintain well-being.
Pranayama teaches you to control your impulses, create positive thought patterns, and use the philosophy and psychology of the yoga models to change your behavior patterns. You will sleep better, communicate more effectively, become less agitated, and less compulsive. It helps you understand anxiety and depression and design a practice for you.
