You’ve been doing your asana practice and loving it, and we feel you, but the purpose of the physical practice is to prepare us for meditation. We are offering you the opportunity to dig a little deeper.. Is meditation the next step in your evolution as a serious yoga practitioner? In this 3.5 hour experience, commonly known as a half day sit, we will practice 5 different styles of meditation. We will begin with 20 minutes of yoga to unwind from the drive, followed by pranayama and chanting. Each meditation session will be 30 minutes or less, and will be broken up with tea breaks. One will be a walking meditation in the lovely Ozark Mountains. There will be time in the beginning to reflect on paper and form an intention. There will be time at the end to share your experience if you choose. In keeping with tradition, this half day sit will honor noble silence, which means that once the experience begins, we will be focused inward and won't be talking to each other. This experience is brought to you by Johanna Epps and April Lane of Go Inside Yoga. We traveled to India together last summer to study meditation. We are honored to open the weekend in this beautiful way and look forward to meeting you. Please feel free to email us if you have questions.

“The best moments in our lives are not the passive, receptive, relaxing times… The best moments usually occur if a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile.” – Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi When action and awareness merge, one loses self-consciousnesses, entering a state of flow, or dhyana. In this on the mat class, practitioners will: 1.) Be offered unending levels of progressions, both subtle and challenging 2.) Use focusing techniques to heighten awareness and sensitivity 3.) Creatively adapt their practice, getting into “dialogue with the body”. A journal and pen are recommended.

We will then stretch out for a relaxing session of Yin Yoga. Yin Yoga is a passive style of yoga, where all the poses are done sitting or reclining and each pose is held for about 3-5 minutes. By passive, I mean that we will just put ourselves in the shapes and relax, no need to try. Nothing to prove. This length of time really gives your body a chance to settle in and reap the benefits. Pranayama workshop Prana= vital energy, life force Ayama= extension, expansion
The word pranayama means to expand the dimension of prana. As practitioners, we use breath as a tool to influence the flow of energy through the channels (nadis) of our energy body (pranayama kosha).
Students will gain a basic understanding of what pranayama is, how it works within our bodies, techniques to use for certain occasions and everyday practices to maintain well-being.
Pranayama teaches you to control your impulses, create positive thought patterns, and use the philosophy and psychology of the yoga models to change your behavior patterns. You will sleep better, communicate more effectively, become less agitated, and less compulsive. It helps you understand anxiety and depression and design a practice for you.
Do not ask what the world needs, ask what makes you come alive. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” --Howard Thurman In this discussion-based workshop, participants will: 1.) Connect modern day and personal perspectives to “dharma” 2.) Generate a list of personal gifts and opportunities 3.) Release socio-cultural restraints on whole-hearted living 4.) Connect and listen to your inner Self's calling 5.) Co-generate practices for listening to Self and God. Bring a journal and pen.
